Advertising, the main reason why consumerism boomed in the 1950s, is defined as the activity or profession of producing advertisement for commercial products or services. Advertisement plays a crucial part in driving a purchaser to go out a buy a new product, now and also in the 1950s. With advertisement a buyer would see a new and uncommon product, and desire to own it. By the end of the 50s era the median family had 30% more spending power than the beginning, this gave the average American family to go out and purchase what they wanted. As a result, the economy grew gradually higher each year, overall growing to a high 37%.
